چکیده

The rice-wheat cropping system (RWCS) in the Indo-Gangetic plains (IGP) of South Asia with help Green Revolution early 1970’s greatly contributed to India's food self-sufficiency and livelihood millions peoplethus, became country's primary source food-grain production. However, deterioration soil health quality, ground water depletion, stress, labour shortage, introduction new weeds pests particularly Phalaris minor, Scirpophaga incertulas climate change have all a major production standstill recent years by which sustainability rice wheat is now at jeopardy. Traditional agronomic practices had various negative implications on HYVs. So, paradigm shift required achieve long-term productivity, allow farmers minimise inputs, optimise yields, enhance profitability, maintain natural resource base reduce risk owing both environmental economic issues through resource-conserving technologies (RCTs) including zero/minimaltillage, PUSA decomposer, bed planting, crop residue management, mechanical transplanter (MRT) diversification. This article focuses some that need be addressed RWCS order goal increasing regional productivity assuring security while maximising effective use resources, enhancing rural livelihoods aiding poverty alleviation.

Cropping systems, tillage and fertilization strategies for durum wheat performance and soil properties

Many sustainable agronomical practices can be adopted to contain environmental risks of crop production and, at the same time, sustain yield and quality. In this framework, the aim of this research was to study the effects of continuous cropping (CC) and crop rotation, tillage and fertilization strategies on durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) production. The responses of soil properties we...

Integrated Nutrient Management for Wheat by Municipal Solid Waste Manure in Rice-Wheat and Cotton-Wheat Cropping Systems

The effects of integrated nutrient management (INM) by municipal solid waste manure (MSWM) on wheat yield were studied in rice-wheat and cotton-wheat systems. each site was used as an independent experimental unit. Two fertilizer doses (conventional and site-specific) were applied in each of three improved techniques: chemical fertilizers, and MSWM plus chemical fertilizers with and without pes...

Effect of crop residue and nitrogen levels in yield and yield attributing traits of rice under Rice-Wheat Cropping System

A 3- years (2015, 2016 and 2017) field study was carried out at National Wheat Research Program, Bhirahawa, Rupandehi, Nepal to evaluate the influence of crop residues and nitrogen levels on rice. The experiment was conducted in split plot design with three replications. Main plots were two crop residue levels (with crop residues of 30 cm wheat stubble and without crop residues) and sub plots c...

Residual phosphorus and zinc influence wheat productivity under rice-wheat cropping system.

Continuous cropping of rice (Oryza sativa L.) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) deplete soil fertility and crop productivity. One strategy to increase crop productivity under rice-wheat system is balanced application of crop nutrients. Field experiment was conducted to assess the impact of phosphorus (0, 40, 80, 120 kg P ha(-1)) and zinc (0, 5, 10, 15 kg Zn ha(-1)) on the productivity of rice ge...
